How it works

The Plainspoken Blueprint is eight questions that strip away the accumulated explanation and find what’s underneath: what you actually do, named in the language of the person who needs it, in the order they need to hear it.
This isn’t marketing. It’s the discipline I developed over 19 years of preaching, where a sermon everyone agrees with and nobody feels is a failure. The church taught me that the distance between clarity and connection is exactly one precise sentence.
About Matt
Pastor for nineteen years. Weaver First United Methodist Church, seven years. Jacksonville First UMC, four years. Before the pulpit: studied music at JSU, M.Div. at Northern Seminary.
In 2025 I had a manic episode that ended in ten days at UAB’s psychiatric center. Came home to a borrowed camper. Rebuilt. Built software, wrote about the breakdown in the Anniston Star, started Southern Legends. The credential is the wreckage, not the podium.
The Plainspoken Blueprint came out of that — the discipline that makes the distance between your mouth and a stranger’s understanding as short as one honest sentence.
